Cutting the Pounds

Tip
One thing that I struggle with is drinking water and not drinking soda or juice. Now, Over the last few years I have gradualy cut out my soda intake to barely anything. I drink maybe one 20 ounce bottle a week. What I have found is that I have replaced it with juice. Now the juice has almost as many calories and sugar as the soda, so really the progress is debateable.
My new discovery is Sobe LifeWater. My favorite flavor is Pacific Coconut. A 20 ounce bottle has only 80 calories (as appose to 290 for a 20 ounce bottle of Mt. Dew) and 20 g of sugar (a 20 oz bottle of Mt. Dew has 73). So I have started drinking the Sobe LifeWater (in extreme moderation) along with just plain water. I struggle with drinking water because it has no flavor and I don't really want it with a meal. Drinking the Sobe LifeWater allows me to drink something with a flavor that I enjoy and cut out the juice and soda.
Tip: Find a LifeWater or VitaminWater to replace the soda and juice! Be sure to check out the lable, some of those waters still have a pretty high calorie and sugar count!
Day 1
Yesterday was day one of my new healthy lifestyle. I consumed 1489 calories and burned 350 for a net caloric intake of 1139. My BMI was 34.7. I will weigh myself again this evening and post my daily weight at the end of the day. For lunch I had a soup that had a high fat content (22g), and I need to avoid that in the future. Today I have brought a soup that has 3 grams of fat. Yesterday I worked out for 45 minutes. I plan to work out for 45 minutes a day for four days a week for the first two weeks and then increase to an hour a day for four days a week for weeks two through 4. I will evaluate my workout schedule based upon my progress at the beginning of week 5.

In the beginning
I have progressively adopted a terrible diet over my teenage and adult life. I rarely drink water, eat food that has a high fat content, especially saturated fats, and is full of sugar and empty calories. This has led to me weighing 229 pounds at 5'8 at the age of 30. Actually, I turn 30 on Friday. My goal for my 30th year is to loose 65 pounds and adopt a life style change.
I want to be clear, I am not going on a diet. Instead, I am going to learn to eat in a healthy way and be a healtier person in general. Today I weigh in at 228 pounds at a height of 5'8. My goal weight is 165 pounds. My daily calorie intake goal is set at 1513.
This blog is mainly just for myself to keep a log of my weigt loss. Along the way I will post my daily progress and also post tips and recipes that I find that I feel may be helpful to some else.
